If you fall ill or are called away on business, you can apply to vote on Thursday by appointing someone you trust as an emergency proxy to go to your polling station and vote on your behalf on Thursday.
Emergency proxies can be appointed if you become disabled due to ill health or are unable to attend your polling station due to occupation, service or employment reasons – such as having to go offshore or travel overseas at short notice.
Emergency proxy appointments can only be made where the event that prevents you attending your polling station arose after 17:00hrs on 4 December.
You can download application forms here.
The deadline for receipt of applications for an emergency proxy is 17:00hrs on 12 December – Polling Day
